During Sunday night's 88th Academy Awards, Leonardo DiCaprio finally took home the Oscar he deserved for Best Actor for his role in The Revenant. And while Best Actress went to Brie Larson for her powerful performance in the movie Room, those who have seen the movie might have noticed that Leo actually makes a cameo in the heartbreaking film.

This would mean it's the first time Best Actress and Best Actor Oscar winners were in the same movie since 1997. Well, we would have to bend the rules just a bit, but let us explain.

Technically, Leo isn't doing any acting in Room — in fact, he even isn't real in the scene — he's just there. Those who have seen Room know how young Jack (Jacob Tremblay) struggles to determine what is real like him and Ma and what is only TV, such as other people, Dora the Explorer, the sea and dogs besides Lucky. So this one would really send him further into a state of confusion.

(Warning! There are some spoilers that follow for those who haven't seen the film.)

The scene where both DiCaprio and Larson share the screen happens toward the end of the movie when Joy is safe in her childhood home. Even though she had been away for about seven years, her mother kept her room the way she left it, which features typical teenage girl things like posters and magazine cutouts of celebrity crushes that are hung on the wall.

As the camera focuses on Larson sleeping in her bed, in the background we catch the face of a young DiCaprio in his heartthrob years right after Titanic. There he is just smiling behind her, as if he was about to softly whisper, "Don't worry, we will both win an Oscar one day."

The cameo happens so quickly that many people probably didn't catch it while watching. But A24, the indie distributor of Room, tweeted a photo of the scene on Sunday night to help bring this moment to our attention, and it received more than 2,500 retweets.

The last time a film won at the Oscars for both the Best Actor and Best Actress nominees was back in 1997 when Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt won for their roles in As Good As It Gets, the same year when Titanic took home 11 Oscars including Best Picture.

In total there are seven movies where this happened, including in 1943 when Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert took home the awards for It Happened One Night, then again in 1975 when Jack Nicholson and Louise Fletcher won for One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, followed by the 1976 win for Peter Finch and Faye Dunaway in Network, the 1978 win for Jon Voight and Jane Fonda in Coming Home. Three years later, Henry Fonda and Katharine Hepburn took home the Oscars for On Golden Pond and Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster in 1991 for Silence of the Lambs.

If viewers consider Leo's cameo in Room legit, this would make it the eighth movie to have both the Oscar winning actor and actress on the same screen.
