It looks like the Rangers have finally assembled - that is, the new cast of the 2017 Power Rangers reboot.

Entertainment Weekly released an exclusive first look at the cast of the highly anticipated remake; the photo itself finally puts the cast together in a way that's wholly original, but slightly reminiscent of the promo shots taken when the show came to our screens more than 20 years ago.

Despite the familiarity of the franchise, there are a few key differences that people behind the scenes have revealed. For instance: the iconic Power Rangers suits.

"We've really pushed ourselves to make them feel different from any other superhero costume that's out there," said Dean Israelite, the director of the reboot, in an interview with EW. "One key that's different to the Power Ranger suits is that they're not really suits that people get into. They're suits that morph onto our kids, so they already have this almost metaphysical quality to them."

Unfortunately, the suits have yet to be seen: the first released picture of the "morphenomenal" gang shows them in their plainsclothes gear, but with the reboot set to premiere in the summer of 2017, we have plenty of time to see some Rangers in full-blown regalia sooner rather than later.

And we can also say this: it looks like the new Rangers aren't super into color-coordinating with their Ranger colors as the OGs were.

As you've probably noticed, Tommy the Green/White Ranger isn't present in the newer photo - but if you read the official synopsis, you might realize why:

"Saban's Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove - and the world - is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as the Power Rangers before it is too late."

If you're a fan of the old show, you'll remember that the movie summary reads similar to the pilot of the TV series - which didn't add Tommy to its lineup until halfway through the season. Whether or not we'll see a Green Ranger in the film remains to be seen, but unless the cast, crew, studio and PR firm are all keeping a bit secret from us, it's probably not likely.

The film will star Becky G as Trini, RJ Cyler as Billy, Naomi Scott as Kimberly, Ludi Lin as Zack, and Dacre Montgomery as Jason, as well as Elizabeth Banks as their nemesis, Rita Repulsa.
