The $200 EVGA Nvidia Tegra Note 7, which has started shipping, features a 7-inch 1280 x 800 LCD powered by the graphics card maker's Tegra 4 chipset and 1GB of memory. Along with the ASUS Nexus 7, its biggest competitors in the tablet range is Amazon's Kindle Fire and Barnes & Noble's Nook HD.

Per the plethora of reviews available, the tablet's processing chipset and easy price point gives it a one-up on the competition outside of flaws. Tegra Note 7's biggest selling point seems to come from its DirectStylus technology which works pretty well.

Here's what the reviewers have to say about Nvidia Tegra Note 7.

CNET

Senior editor Eric Franklin loved the tablet's gaming performance and comfortable stylus but called the front-facing camera "terrible" and form factor uncomfortable.

"Though its design and features can't compare with the Galaxy Note 8, the EVGA Tegra Note 7 delivers a solid stylus experience for almost half the price," said Franklin

Forbes

Though technology contributor Patrick Moorhead didn't get a chance to check out the Tegra Note 7's gaming and camera capabilities, he was surprised by the tablet's graphic benchmarks.

"Net-net, the Nvidia Tegra Note's stylus capabilities were surprisingly good, and the platform truly does bring it to the masses at a shockingly-affordable $199," said Moorhead.

Writer Chris Davies describes the tablet as an impressive piece of technology thanks to the DirectStylus but negatively reacts to design and cheap feel of its plastic housing.

"For those resolutely committed to digital note-taking or artwork on their tablet, an active digitizer is still the pinnacle of mobile penmanship. That precision comes at a price, however, and it's now one that casual note-takers needn't extend to: the Tegra Note 7 does sufficiently well at just $199," said Davies.

Brian Klug's mainly compared the tablet to the Nexus 7. Though his biggest complaint was the close proximity between the power button and the device's camera aperture, he praised the DirectStylus.

"I keep comparing the two since really those two[Nexus 7 and Tegra Note 7] since those two are competing for a slice of the same category in the Android tablet landscape. What the Tegra Note does have up on the competition however is a new stylus technology," said Klug.
