Asus puts the ZenFone Max to the test, pitting it against the Apple iPhone 6s Plus in a battery marathon challenge. Surprise, surprise, it came out on top.

Touted as a smartphone that can stay on for a long time, it certainly lives up to its name. It's crammed with a huge 5,000 mAh battery pack, which is almost twice of 2,750 mAh that the iPhone 6s Plus has in store. That earned it a spot among the smartphones with the hugest batteries.

In the test, the ZenFone Max clocked in at a whopping 12 hours and 45 minutes of continuous video playback. On the other hand, the iPhone 6s Plus didn't even reach half that time at 5 hours and 31 minutes.

It should also be noted that the ZenFone Max can go for 38 days on standby, 37.6 hours of 3G talk time, 32.5 hours of Wi-Fi browsing and 48.5 hours of audio playback, according to Asus.

Sure, that's a one-sided battle on paper, but what Asus failed to mention are the gaps here and there between the two smartphones.

For starters, the ZenFone Max sports only a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, whereas the iPhone 6s Plus houses the Cupertino brand's powerful A9 processor. Next, both handsets have 5.5-inch displays, but the former only pushes out 720p quality, while the latter delivers 1080p.

Long story short, these elements are important in determining whether a device can last or not. Also, that means that the battery pack is not the only deciding factor.

Considering the components of the two, the ZenFone Max is expectedly more affordable than the iPhone 6s Plus. It's believed to come with a price tag of Rs. 9,999 or about $150.

Asus has yet to roll out the jacked up handset to the United States, but until then, it appears that the company wants everyone to know that it has brought a solution to the table for the typical problem with smartphones – battery life.
