The affordable Lumia 650 Windows 10-powered smartphone is now officially available for preorder in the U.S., straight from the Microsoft Store.

The Lumia 650 has been available in other markets worldwide for a while now, yet Microsoft delayed the U.S. launch for some reason. We recently reported that the smartphone would finally hit U.S. shores soon enough and it now seems that its launch is just around the corner.

Microsoft is now accepting preorders for its budget Lumia 650 in the U.S., offering the dual-SIM version of the Windows 10 smartphone for $199. The price is for the unlocked model and the smartphone is set to ship by April 1.

For those unfamiliar with the handset, here's the deal. The Lumia 650 is one of the most affordable, entry-level smartphone in Microsoft's Windows 10 lineup, aiming to deliver the latest OS on a budget.

At $199 unlocked, the Lumia 650 obviously doesn't come as a top-notch flagship. Nevertheless, the handset does have some solid specs and features for its category, and Windows 10 Mobile is definitely among the greatest highlights.

The Microsoft Lumia 650 features a 5-inch AMOLED display with an HD resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels, a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 quad-core processor, and just 1 GB of RAM.

Other specs include an 8-megapixel main camera, a 5-megapixel selfie cam, 16 GB of internal storage space, microSD support for expandable storage, dual-SIM support, 4G LTE connectivity and a 2,000 mAh battery to keep it all up and running.

In terms of design, the Lumia 650 sports a polycarbonate build with a stylish metal frame that makes it look and feel more premium.

When it comes to software, the budget Lumia 650 runs Windows 10 Mobile out of the box, complete with the most popular Microsoft apps such as OneDrive, Outlook, the Office suite, Cortana and more. On the downside, the affordable handset does not support Windows 10's Continuum.

The Microsoft Lumia 650 is also headed to Cricket Wireless in the United States, but no specific details are available at this point. For now, interested customers can preorder the smartphone from the Microsoft Store. The Lumia 650 is compatible with GSM carriers.
