There are some smartphone users who are unhappy with the changes they've experienced on their Samsung Galaxy, Nexus, LG, HTC and Motorola devices after upgrading their handsets from Android 5.0 Lollipop to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. While it's not possible to officially downgrade your phone back to Lollipop from Marshmallow, some savvy techies on the net have figured out how to do it on some of the most popular devices.

Google is already rolling out beta tests for its newest software update, Android N, despite the fact that the update still hasn't been given its customary confectionery nickname. Along with the nation's largest wireless carriers, Google has also stepped up the pace in terms of releasing the company's latest official software update, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Many of the most current flagship smartphones from the biggest manufacturers have received their Marshmallow update or will do so imminently.

Still, many device owners are not happy with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for various reasons. Some have experienced performance issues, including battery drain, lagging, overheating, force closing and Wi-Fi connectivity problems, while others simply aren't happy with the changes in the user interface. For whatever reason, many would like to revert back to the older version of Android. Samsung Galaxy S6 users who are unhappy with the new OS can follow this guide, which is likely to apply similarly to the Galaxy S6 edge as well.

Owners of the LG G3 or LG G4 can use those phones' respective guides to perform an OS downgrade.

Moto G (2nd Gen) Users can consult this guide to downgrading their device from Marshmallow to Lollipop.
