"Clips" is a new feature in the Audible app that allows users to choose and save their favorite passages and excerpts from audiobooks and even share these with friends and family members.

After selecting and saving 45 seconds of audio, users can choose to make edits and add notes to the clip. Editing a clip is done by simply choosing the start and end points of the clip.

"Introducing Clips: Now you can create clips of your favorite audiobook passages for later, listening or sharing with friends, plus do everything you could previously do using Bookmarks," states the app's description in iTunes.

In the past, users would share literary quotes from ebooks or share transcribed quotes from print books. With Clips, audiobook listeners can now share pieces of their favorite audio content across their social network. This include sharing in popular destinations such as Facebook, Facebook Messenger, Twitter, WhatsApp, as well as SMS and email.

To start clipping, users need to make sure that they have installed the latest version of the Audible app. Once that's done, here's what to do:

1. Listen to your book.

2. After hearing the part that you would like to clip, tap on the "Clip" icon found in the lower right corner of the player. Doing this will allow you to save the last 30 seconds of audio.

3. When the dialogue box appears, tap "Preview." Now, you have the option to refine your clip.

4. Tap the "Play" button to hear your selection. Then move the starting and ending points until you hear the exact section you would like to save. You can also drag the background to move forward and backward in the book.

5. Tap "Enter a title" to name your clip. This will make it easier for you to find your clip later.

6. When you're finished, tap "Done."

If there's a need to make further edits, first locate the clip in the Clips library. Find the 3 dots next to the saved clip and tap it to start editing. Tap "Done" once editing is finished.

Tap on the 3 dots again in order to add a note. After tapping the Play button in the corner, you can listen to the clip in order to help you write down your note.

Sharing the clip can also be done from the Clip library. Simply locate the clip and then tap "Share."

Don Katz, CEO and founder of Audible, says that Clips allows customers to easily start meaningful conversations with friends and family members using their audiobooks anytime they feel inspired to do so.

The shared content can also be accessed from anywhere and will not require the recipient to have the app installed or to have an Audible account. Recipients who would like to hear more can also opt to sign up and purchase the full audiobook.

The new Clips feature is initially available to iOS and Windows users, but will soon become available on Android as well.
