For a while, the Dark Souls franchise and PC gaming didn't get along very well. Fans everywhere were excited when the original game arrived on the platform with the Prepare to Die Edition ... and then let out a collective cry of anguish when they realized that Dark Souls on PC barely worked. Dark Souls II fixed most of these problems, but even now, Souls fans know to be wary of PC ports.
With just a few short weeks left before the game makes its U.S. debut, From Software has finally detailed the game's recommended system specs — but that's not all. Reddit user RedQ managed to grab a screenshot of the game's graphical options menu during an IGN livestream, giving players their first look at Dark Souls III's different PC-exclusive settings.
So, what's the verdict? While it's still impossible to tell how the game will run on the average computer, it looks as if Dark Souls III's PC port will be on the same level as its predecessor. It's not the deepest set of options to ever grace the platform, but those with a penchant for tweaking their games definitely have a few options to play around with:
Again, it's nothing really out of the ordinary. The option to tweak reflections and water textures is a nice addition, though it's disappointing that features like different antialiasing and ambient occlusion choices haven't made the cut. As for system specs, Dark Souls III boasts some surprisingly tame recommendations. Of course, having extra power never hurts, but it looks like the game will at least run on machines with older cards in them.
