The foundation of DC cinematic universe has finally arrived in the form of Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, with multiple DC comic films coming in the next five years. Among them is rumored to be a new standalone Batman film starring and co-written by Ben Affleck alongside DC chief creative officer and writer Geoff Johns.

While a solo Batman film isn't yet official, it certainly seems even more likely now, in light of Affleck's most recent statements during an interview on DC All Access. Affleck was asked what it's like to work with somebody like Johns, resulting in the following:

"Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy," Affleck says. "I consider him to be the most valued resource on all things comic book. And every time I like something in a comic I mention, he goes, 'Oh yeah, I wrote that.' Now I just think he's bull-----ing me, because he says he wrote everything. He and I are working together on something and I really am excited about it and I love him. He's the best."

That would match up with rumors that started last summer, and they make perfect sense. Affleck is no stranger to the movie-making business, after all, so it would only be natural for him to have an even larger role production-style role in the solo film for his take on the Dark Knight.

However likely, the existence of a Batman solo film in the works is still just rumor. That being said, amid a sea of negative Batman v Superman reviews, most critics do at least point out that Affleck does a respectable job with the character. It would only seem obvious then that DC and Warner Bros. would want to capitalize on the character's popularity and positive reception with a solo outing. Giving Affleck more control over how his character is portrayed on the big screen seems like a smart move, in that light.
