Tesla's CEO and co-founder Elon Musk has now sets his sights on an EV pickup truck, as well as supersonic jet.

Musk was speaking at Business Insider's IGNITION event in New York on Thursday, November 14, and spilled the beans on the pickup truck and supersonic jet in a post-interview Q&A session.

The pickup truck will reportedly be modeled after the Ford F-150, which is the best-selling truck in the U.S.

"If you're trying to replace the most gasoline miles driven, you have to look at what people are buying," said Musk after an appearance at a Business Insider conference. "That's the best selling car in America. If people are voting that's their car, then that's the car we have to deliver."

Musk also revealed that he had envisaged a design for the supersonic jet, which would have the ability to land and take off vertically. Musk imagined such a concept of a jet after the Concorde was grounded years ago.

"I do think there's an interesting opportunity to make a supersonic vertical takeoff-landing jet," said Musk at DealBook's Opportunities for Tomorrow Conference.

According to Business Insider, Musk has disclosed that Tesla may take up to five years to make the pickup truck.

Recently, reports of Tesla's Model S catching fire have been making the headlines. However, the car maker has been able to create quite a stir in the auto sector despite its limited sales.
