Square Enix has long been building up hype around its "Final Fantasy XV Uncovered" Event in Los Angeles, where the game's official release date and other details are set to be announced.

The only problem is that it looks like two major details have leaked ahead of time via Gamespot. Though the event is set for later today, the game's release date is now displayed across the Internet, no doubt much to Square Enix's sadness. According to a now private Gamespot (citing the event itself), the long-awaited Final Fantasy XV will finally arrive on Sept. 30 for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

That, however, was just one part of the big news coming in the event. The other is that a new demo for the game will be free to download for players starting today on PS4 and Xbox One. The demo is said to feature a younger version of FFXV protagonist Noctis, who will be fighting through a dream. This demo will serve to show off gameplay and visual changes that have taken place in the game since the previous FFXV demo that launched alongside Final Fantasy Type-0 HD.

Players who finish the entire demo will gain access to an exclusive Carbuncle summon for use in the final version of the game, as if gamers needed more incentive to check out the latest installment in the storied franchise that has been more than 10 years in the making.

Square Enix has yet to comment on the leak, but no doubt, the company is more than a little upset about Gamespot stealing its thunder. Regardless, more details about the game and undoubtedly, a new trailer, will also premiere at the FFXV Uncovered event, so fans should still have something to look forward to.

More than a few glimpses at the game have been released in the past several months. One gameplay video featured Noctis and his team infiltrating an enemy compound in footage that looked more like Metal Gear Solid than traditional Final Fantasy. Square Enix also released a teaser video for what to expect from the "Uncovered" event itself, which you can check out below.
