Apple appears to have overdelivered with its new 4-inch iPhone. The smartphone made an appearance on AnTuTu and its score was better than the flagship iPhone 6s and on par with the high-end iPhone 6s Plus.

Ever since Apple released the first 4-inch iPhone, the iPhone 5 in September 2012, the days of the 3.5-inch displays that debuted on the original iPhone through the iPhone 4s were numbered. At the time the iPhone 5 was released, many iPhone fans did not like the direction the company was going with what they called gigantic screens. Steve Jobs himself claimed the 3.5-inch size was the perfect size, but it now appears the perfect size is actually 4 inches for many iPhone users.

Apple has been rumored to be working on a new 4-inch iPhone since the release of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus in 2014. Rumors intensified in early January that Apple would indeed launch a new 4-inch iPhone in the spring. We learned the handset would either be called the iPhone 6c, iPhone 5se, and then finally, iPhone SE, which ended up being the official name.

The iPhone SE is available from all major U.S. carriers and will be officially released on March 31, although there are reports customers have started receiving the smartphone early.

iPhone SE owners will be happy to know that they have a very powerful device in their hands. The smartphone has made an appearance on AnTuTu benchmark and it posted a very impressive score. The iPhone SE received a score of 134,358, while the iPhone 6s came in under it with a score of 129,990, and the iPhone 6s Plus has 137,420.

It's interesting to see the iPhone SE score higher than Apple's flagship iPhone 6s, but it is pushing to a smaller display with similar specs, like an A9 processor and 2 GB of RAM, so that might explain the score. Either way, Apple's new 4-inch iPhone doesn't come with any trade-offs when it comes to performance.
