Back when Marvel Studios unveiled their Phase 3 lineup, it had Inhumans scheduled as one of the franchise starters that would be released between the two-part Avengers: Infinity War. However, as many people know, plans don't always pan out and that means compromises have to be made.

Will the Inhumans movie be that compromise for Marvel Studios?

According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, not necessarily.

Talking to Collider, he said that since the Phase 3 announcement was made, they had added the Spider-Man reboot into the mix, as well as the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp. This has led to some dates being shuffled down, including Inhumans'.

However, how far those dates shuffle down is unclear, so Feige can't offer even an approximation as to when Inhumans can be expected.

At the very least, those looking forward to the movie can find comfort in knowing that the Marvel Studios boss didn't outright say that Inhumans is being canceled. It may be taking a backseat now but the rumors saying that it will be scrapped because its storyline is already being explored in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. are not true.

"No, it's a question of when," said Feige, when asked about the rumors.

But even if Inhumans is still in the agenda, it can't be expected sooner than July 12, 2019, its original release date. And that's if nothing else crops up anytime soon and further bumps it down the road.

Up next for Marvel Studios is the release of Captain America: Civil War on May 6, 2016, followed by Doctor Strange in November. 2017 will see Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol 2; the untitled Spider-Man reboot and Thor: Ragnarok, while 2018 will have Black Panther; Avengers: Infinity War - Part 1; Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel, which has yet to announce its cast. When Avengers: Infinity War - Part 2 comes back in May 2019, it will be the last of the confirmed movies so far for the studio.
