Motorola said on its Twitter account that its much anticipated Moto 360 smartwatch has limited availability at the moment. The wearable was revealed through the company's media event held in Chicago on September. It was launched on Sept. 5 at a price tag of $250. Along with the smartwatch, Motorola also unveiled a pair of second generation smartphones, the Moto X and the Moto G.

In a short span of three hours when the Moto 360 smartwatch became available for retail, it was declared as sold out at the Google Play Store and Motorola's official site.

"Unfortunately Moto 360 is sold out on Motorola.com. Availability may be limited for a while," posted Motorola on its Tweeter account.

The Moto 360 is a stylish-looking stainless steel smartwatch that is not only a circular shaped device with Android Wear but also the best defense of Google against the iWatch from Apple. It is also a nice deviation from the square-shaped displays of the Samsung Gear Live and the LG G Watch.

The Moto 360's computerized screen is built with a backlit LCD of 1.56 inch which is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protected. It boasts a high resolution of 320 x 290 with 205 ppi. This makes it almost identical to the Samsung Gear Live with its 320 x 320 resolution. Compared to the 280 x 280 IPS panel of the LG G Watch, the Moto 360 is absolutely so much better.

Similar to the above mentioned Android Wear smartwatches, Moto 360 will also have the always-on screen feature. It creates a power-saving dimmed display and still shows the time akin to a traditional watch.

The Moto 360 has health-focused features such as the pedometer and the heart rate monitor. It sports a water-resistant body which keeps it protected against water-caused damages. It has the ability to repel any damages even after being immersed in water that is as deep as 3.3 feet as long as the immersion is within 30 minutes.

The connection between the Moto 360 and a smartphone can be made through Bluetooth. When a connection is established, the user can start viewing all of his notifications such as email, SMS, and calls. The notifications are sent through the Moto 360's "Vibration Alerts."

Motorola encourages prospective customers to sign up at their site in order to get a notification on when the new stocks of Moto 360 will become available. Rumors are saying that it will start to become available again on Sept. 14 at Best Buy which also listed the smartwatch as a sold out item.
