We've finally got a first look at the colorful cast of strange characters that will call "American Horror Story: Freak Show" home, and it looks like this season will be anything but ordinary.

The fourth season of FX's hit horror show "American Horror Story" will be taking viewers back in time to 1950, following one of the owners of the few remaining "freakshows" in the country. All the stereotypical "freaks" are here, from a bearded lady (played by Kathy Bates) to conjoined twins (both played by Sarah Paulson) and every type of sideshow staple in between.

Emmy Award winner Jessica Lange oversees the show as Elsa Mars, with the teaser trailer promoting her as a mysterious character whose sideshow seems destined to collapse around her. An eerie mood is established with the help of Melanie Martinez's song "Carousel." You can check out the trailer below.

Paulson will be pulling double duty in the new season as Bete and Dot, the conjoined twins of the show. If that sounds like a lot of work, that's because it is.

"It's exhausting because it's twice the work," she told E! at the Emmys. "It really is. I should be getting two salaries."

FX also hired the world's smallest actress to take part in the fourth season of the show. Jyoti Amge holds the Guinness World Record for smallest actress at 61.95 centimeters tall.

This may wind up being Lange's last season of the show, as she previously told the press she had signed onto "American Horror Story" for four seasons and was looking forward to doing something new after "Freak Show." She won an Emmy last year for her work on "American Horror Story: Coven."

Even if this does turn out to be Lange's last season, it looks to be a memorable season to exit on. "American Horror Story: Freak Show" debuts on FX Oct. 8.
