Huawei Honor is launching a new smartphone next month in an event that the OEM teased on its website.

Dubbed Honor V8, the company teased the device as being designed to have a dual-camera setup, with the handset expected to be officially announced as the successor to Honor 7 at the launch event.

Apart from the launch date stated as May 10, no other details about the handset were revealed at this point.

The Honor V8 smartphone is purported to feature dual 12 MP sensors similar to those seen on the Huawei P9 and P9 Plus devices, although it will not come equipped with the lenses from Leica. With that being said, it's not clear if the dual sensors will be composed of a monochrome and an RGB dual image sensors combo or it will bear the familiar sensor configurations that are found on the company's Honor 6 Plus or in the LG G5.

Last month, we reported on Huawei's teaser page for the P9 where the phone's Leica camera was mentioned. Huawei said that they have incorporated their devices with a camera that promises to deliver impressive results. It's the kind of camera that will capture the type of photos that users would want to share on whatever time of the day.

Other rumored specs on the upcoming Honor V8 include a 4 GB of RAM, a Kirin 950 chipset and a fingerprint sensor that comes with payment authentication capabilities.

Prior to the announcement, the company was also rumored to be gearing up for the launch of entry-level Honor 5C, its follow up version to the Honor 4C handset. The entry-level device will reportedly feature the all new Kirin 650 chipset. Other highlights include a 5.2-inch 1080p display, 2 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and Android 6.0 Marshmallow as a pre-installed OS. A variant is also expected to launch with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage.

Huawei is officially launching the Honor 5C on April 28, which is only a couple of days ahead of the Honor V8's official unveiling on May 10. Both handsets are expected to hit stores not only in China, but also in a number of other Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and India.
