The upcoming Honor V8 smartphone was just spotted on TENAA, rocking a QHD display and the much touted dual rear camera setup.

TENAA is the Chinese equivalent of the U.S. FCC, which means that it's among the last steps before a device is ready to hit the market. The fact that the V8 smartphone from Huawei's Honor brand received TENAA certification suggests that a launch could be just around the corner.

Of course, we already knew the Honor V8 was coming. Just last week, Honor teased its upcoming smartphone and confirmed that it will boast dual rear cameras, as per the latest trend.

Aside from the upgrades in the camera department, it also seems that the upcoming Honor V8 will sport a high-resolution QHD display, again proving that times are definitely changing.

Just last year, Huawei CEO Richard Yu made waves when he claimed that a QHD resolution did not really make sense for smartphones, since it would drain too much battery and the difference between full HD and QHD would not be that noticeable to users.

Huawei changed its mind recently and it seems that its Honor brand, which operates independently, is ready to jump on the QHD bandwagon as well, at least for one model.

TENAA shows three different versions of the Honor V8: KNT-AL10, KNT-AL20 and KNT-TL10. The KNT-AL10 and KNT-TL10 both feature octa-core processors clocked at 2.3 GHz, 5.7-inch displays with full HD resolution (1,920 x 1,080), 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage and 3,400 mAh batteries. Other specs include 12-megapixel dual rear cameras, 8-megapixel front shooters, and Android Marshmallow rocking the software side.

The KNT-AL20, meanwhile, seems to be a more beefed up Honor V8 version. This model is listed with a QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440), a 2.5 GHz octa-core processor and up to 64 GB of built-in storage. It shares the rest of the specifications with its other two siblings.

With Honor's previous teaser and now the TENAA listing revealing the smartphone's models and specifications, it seems that everything's in place for the Honor V8 launch on May 10.

It remains to be seen whether the Honor V8 will reach other markets outside Asia, but we'll keep you in the loop as soon as we learn more.
