Phone company Nextbit is giving its Robin device a much-needed software update, packing in an enhanced snapper, new emojis and more, in an aim to make user experience more exciting.

The company, which started on Kickstarter, reveals the bunch of announcements via a blog post on April 27.

Right off the bat, the 5.2-inch phone now runs Android Marshmallow 6.0.1, giving the phone an expanded emoji set along with the April security patch.

Nextbit says it has carried out additional processor tuning, giving an amped-up battery life and improved performance.

The company likewise fine-tuned the phone's camera app, making it faster and capable of delivering better photos.

On top of these enhancements, the update likewise improves the audio output from the phone's dual front-facing speakers and headphone jack. The company says it worked with a French audio company, Arkamys, in beefing up the audio capabilities of Robin.

Users of the phone can either manually check out the Nextbit website to receive the most recent update or wait for the over-the-air update.

Another significant announcement the company revealed is its collaboration with AIAIAI, a Danish headphone maker, to produce a set of headphones called TMA-2.

This set of headphones is modular, which means consumers are able to personalize it. For instance, customers can customize the speaker units, headphone's band, cord and ear pads. It likewise comes with a remote for play, pause and skip. It also has a microphone.

"The Nextbit x AIAIAI TMA-2 uses a powerful, high-sensitivity neodymium speaker unit that delivers a vibrant and detailed sound, with dynamic bass and crisp treble," says Nextbit.

Robin users have to fork out $225 to snag the TMA-2 headphones, according to Nextbit.com.

Next up, Nextbit and AIAIAI have also partnered up in curating a ringtone series, with new ringtones created by a slew of musical artists, such as the likes of Lauren Lo Sung and DJ Giraffage. The latest ringtones can be downloaded via Nextbit's community blog.

Those who wish to purchase a Robin phone should know that it carries a price tag of $399 and comes fitted with a 13 megapixel shooter and 100 GB of online cloud storage.

In the United States, Robin can be purchased via Amazon. This can also be grabbed on Launchpad, a storefront that features products from different startups.
