Xiaomi takes the wraps off the Mi Bunny smartwatch for kids, delivering a wearable tech with useful features in a cute package.

Straight off the bat, it offers what one might expect out of a smartwatch designed for children. In other words, this isn't exactly anything new or groundbreaking, but at any rate, it's still pretty handy at times.

Under the hood, it has a built-in GPS to let parents keep track of their youngsters' location, not to mention that they can set up a zone and get alerts when their children step out of it.

Going over the other notable functions, kids can make calls and receive them and even press an SOS button in the event of an emergency. Once the button is pressed, the device will automatically start recording audio for 7 seconds and send it along with the location of the child to their parents' smartphone.

As for connectivity, it supports both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and for calls and whatnot, it houses a SIM card loaded with 10 yuan, just enough for the whippersnapper's use.

To make sure it lasts for days, the smartphone maker crammed in a 300 mAh battery pack, claiming that it can keep the lights on for up to six days on standby and up to two days on typical use.

Compatibility-wise, it works on any other Android 4.2 or higher smartphone, including Apple devices running on iOS 8 and above. Needless to say, it's not locked to Xiaomi-branded devices.

On an interesting note, it's worth mentioning that it's also known as the Mituwatch. As for availability, the Mi Bunny is already up at the Xiaomi Global website with an affordable price tag of $59.

In other Xiaomi-related news, the company is expected to unveil the Mi Max and another smartwatch called the Mi Band 2 at a May 10 event.
