Exciting month ahead for tech and gaming fans everywhere.

It was earlier reported that Nvidia is ready to launch its next generation GeForce video cards during the US Nvidia Editor's Day event scheduled next week, on the same date of the Battlefield 5 reveal. Nvidia is being secretive about the full details of the by-invite-only event, but the tech community is buzzing that the company is ready to launch some cool new products this summer.

There are two different video card models that are expected to be unveiled during the event, the GeForce GTX 1080 and the GeForce GTX 1070. These two cards will replace the GM204-based parts that are currently used in the GeForce GTX 980 and 970 respectively.

The next generation Pascal-based GeForce GTX 1080 is one of Nvidia's most powerful video card to date, boasting a 16nm FinFET process and innovative Pascal design. The GeForce GTX 1070, however, may run a bit slower than the 1080, but will still mark an upgrade from the older card models nonetheless. Nvidia's GeForce and Quadro boards continue to dominate the graphics processing unit (GPU) platform and the company hopes to keep its lead in the market by constantly improving their products.

Of course, the next logical thing to do after investing in an incredibly fast graphics card is to find a great game to match. Electronic Arts (EA) got that covered.

EA has also announced the release of the next generation of Battlefield. The worldwide premiere of Battlefield 5 is scheduled on May 6 at 1 p.m. Pacific (4 p.m. Eastern and 9 p.m. British Summer Time), the same date that Nvidia is expected to make its announcement.

Battlefield is a series of first-person shooter video games that debuted in 2002. The game was reportedly played by more than 50 million people worldwide as of 2012. Battlefield 5 will be the 11th title released under the popular franchise and is rumored to be set in the first world war with multiplayer mode.

According to EA executive, Blake Jorgensen, Battlefield 5 "will be a return to a Battlefield military-style game," which players rave about. In addition, a developer panel will be hosted during the premiere to provide gamers some insights behind the game's development. Battlefield's creative director Lars Gustavsson and lead producer Aleksander Grondal will be part of the panel to discuss everything there is to know about the game.
