A new report claims HTC is preparing to release two smartphones. The HTC One M8 Eye will pack a 13-megapixel Duo Camera and the HTC Eye will sport a 5.2-inch 1080p display and 8-megapixel shooter.

When HTC unveiled the HTC One at Mobile World Congress in 2013, the company surprised the smartphone world by choosing to take a page out of Apple's smartphone playbook by putting major focus on its flagship smartphone's design. The handset won the coveted 'Best in Show' at the trade show thanks to its premium unibody aluminum design.

The company followed the same recipe for success when it unveiled this year's flagship HTC One M8. It kept the same aluminum design and packed the smartphone with beefed-up specs. We had the opportunity to review the HTC One M8 in April and declared it the best smartphone on the market at the time. In August, HTC decided to introduce the HTC One M8 for Windows, which used the same exact specs and design as its Android variant, but swapped out Google's smartphone OS for Microsoft's Windows Phone 8.1.

HTC is about to unveil a new variant of the HTC One M8, which is rumored to be called the HTC One M8 Eye. The smartphone will reportedly be virtually identical to the HTC One M8, but will swap out its 4-UltraPixel camera for a 13-megapixel Duo Camera.

A report from the same source claims that HTC will also announce a new smartphone called the HTC Eye that will cater to selfie lovers. It will reportedly ship with a 5.2-inch 1920 x 1080 Full HD display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and an 8-megapixel camera. The HTC Eye is rumored to also boast an ultra-sharp 8-megapixel front-facing camera to provide users with high-quality selfies.

HTC has scheduled a press event Oct. 8 and its invite provides a hint that the company will focus on its new smartphone's camera capabilities, as it titled the event, "HTC Presents Double Exposure." The company included an image of a smartphone that matches the HTC One M8, which is now believed to be the HTC One M8 Eye. We'll bring you all the latest news from the event.
