EA is gearing up for its big Battlefield 5 announcement on Friday, and to celebrate, the game publisher is giving away some free DLC to fans of the popular shooter franchise.

From now until May 10, Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline players will each be able to snag one DLC pack. Specifically, Battlefield 4 players can grab the Dragon's Teeth DLC pack, while Battlefield Hardline players can grab the Robbery pack, free of charge.

Dragon's Teeth comes with four new multiplayer maps in the form of Lumphini Garden, Pearl Market, Propaganda and Sunken Dragon. Players will also be able to enjoy a new game mode, ballistic shield gadget, new weapons and a new armored vehicle they can take for a spin.

Battlefield Hardline's Robbery DLC adds four new maps in the form of Docks, Break Pointe, Museum and Precinct 7. Joining the new maps are a new 5v5 game type called Squad Heist, new weapons, two new gadgets, two new vehicles and additional camo and paint jobs for gear customization. 

Not bad for the low, low cost of free. It should definitely get fans more excited for the Battlefield 5 reveal later this week, and should at least help to tide players over until the new entry in the series arrives this holiday season. Rumors around the game state that EA and DICE's new shooter might be set in World War I, but so far, there doesn't seem to be any real evidence to support the claim. Supposedly, Nvidia will reveal its new graphics card alongside the reveal of the game as well.

That seems much more likely. We will know for sure on Friday. Battlefield's main rival, Call of Duty, revealed its latest entry earlier this week to mixed results. The sci-fi setting seen in the franchise seems to be wearing thin on more than a few fans, though the inclusion of Modern Warfare Remastered (for a higher price) makes the pill a little easier to swallow. Will this be the year Battlefield knocks Call of Duty off the FPS throne? We'll have to wait until this holiday season to see.
