One of the most comprehensive iPhone speed tests to date has been published on YouTube. It puts perspective on the nearly decade-old iPhone family, while proving that the iPhone SE belongs on the leading end of the lineup.

In the latest edition of its iPhone speed test, EverythingApplePro compared all nine generations: iPhone SE, 6S Plus, 6S, 6 Plus, 6, 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, 4, 3Gs, 3G and 2G.

On the first challenge, the iPhone SE bursts out of the gates and powered on ahead of the rest of the pack. All of the phones had been plugged into a USB hub, awaiting a flick of the "On" switch.

The 6S and 6S Plus were right on the heels of the iPhone SE as it reached the finish line, the home screen. While the 4S, rocking iOS 9, brought up the rear.

For the next challenge, all 13 iPhones were tasked with completing a GeekBench benchmark. The 2G and 3G had to run an older version of GeekBench.

The iPhone SE was the clear winner of the GeekBench test. However, it was edged out, just slightly, by the 6S and 6S Plus in the Wi-Fi challenge that followed. For the HTML5 & Browsing challenge, all of the devices running iOS 9 tied for first place. Similarly, the iPhone 5 and higher were virtually in sync in loading their camera in the next challenge.

Other challenges included speaker output, heat and camera quality. The iPhone SE continued to hold its own and stand out.

The test was more than a testament to the performance of the iPhone SE, which rocks the same processor and co-processor as the 6S and 6S Plus. Though it should certainly be a feel-good experience for those who have bitten or will bite on the 4-inch phone.

With the iPhone family turning 10 in January 2017, the test puts into perspective just how far the lineup has come despite the occasional feeling that new releases are incremental upgrades.
