It's no secret that Samsung and AT&T are preparing to launch the Galaxy S7 Active in the near future. New images of the rugged flagship smartphone have leaked in a gold "Desert Camo" color option.

Samsung is widely expected to introduce a new a smartphone that will be part of its top-tier Galaxy S7 series. The Galaxy S7 Active has already been spotted with an AT&T logo stamped on its rear case, and a handset believed to be Sprint's variant, the Galaxy S7 Sport, was just listed on Zauba.

Now, a new image of the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Active has leaked, and fans of rugged gold-colored smartphones will be able to pick up the "desert camo" option when the handset officially goes on sale.

The always-reliable tipster Evan Blass posted the images on Twitter and wrote, "Samsung Galaxy S7 Active for AT&T (SM-G891A) in, um, gold? Let's call it "desert camo" instead."

The photo matches previously-leaked images and show the Galaxy S7 Active will include three physical buttons on the front; recent apps, home (with embedded fingerprint scanner) and back. The handset's "Active" design trades in the metal and glass construction of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge for a more tough and rugged rubber and polycarbonate case.

We already know most of the Samsung Galaxy S7 Active's specs, thanks to an appearance on GFXBench. The results showed the smartphone will pack in a 5.5-inch 2560 by 1440 quad-HD display, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 820 processor and 4 GB of RAM.

Its camera capabilities will consist of a 12 megpaixel rear camera with OIS (optical image stabilization) and 5 megapixel front camera. It will include 32 GB of internal storage, a microSD expansion slot and run Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box. Like the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, the S7 Active will be both waterproof and dust-resistant.

Samsung and AT&T are expected to officially announced the Galaxy S7 Active in the coming weeks, and just in time for summer. We'll keep you up to date on any new information regarding the Galaxy S7 Active and S7 Sport.
