If you've been keen on snagging a Windows Phone, now is the perfect time to do so: the Lumia 640 is on sale and will cost you as little as $10.

U.S.-based carrier Cricket is currently running a promotion for the Lumia 640 — a limited-period offer like most great deals. The budget handset will now set you back by just $29.99, a savings of 50 percent. To avail of this offer, one merely needs to activate a new connection with Cricket. It really is that simple.

But what if you are subscribing to another carrier and are in a quandary? The network operator sweetens the deal on the Lumia 640 further and will offer the smartphone for just $9.99 to those porting their number from a rival carrier.

This is not the first time the Lumia 640 is being offered at a fantastic price. Earlier in February, Tech Times reported that retailers Walmart and Best Buy had both discounted the Lumia 640 for a limited period for $29.99.

To refresh your memory, the Lumia 640 has a 5-inch Clearblack HD screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. It also touts Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which guards the budget handset against scratches. The pixel density of the handset is 294 ppi.

Under the hood, the Lumia 640 houses Adreno 305 GPU and a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, clocked at 1.2GHz and 1 GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 8 GB of on-board storage, which is expandable to 128 GB via a microSD card.

The smartphone packs in an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with HD video recording capabilities. The front-facing camera is pretty basic and is just 0.9 megapixel. The Lumia 640 boasts a 2,500 mAh battery and comes pre-loaded with the Windows Phone 8.1 OS.

If you are a Windows 10 Mobile fan, then take comfort in the fact that the OS is upgradable. So why hold out on the Lumia 640 at this price? You also get free OneDrive storage, Skype and full MS Office to lure you in further.

You can now purchase the Lumia 640 from Cricket in Cyan as part of the Cricket deal.

Those eyeing a newer smartphone can opt for the Lumia 650 as Cricket has shaved $10 off the handset's original price and is now selling for $119.99 instead.
