Prior to Samsung's official announcement, images of the foldable display that could possibly be fitted into the highly anticipated Samsung Galaxy X has hit the Internet, giving a glimpse of what it looks like.

Not so long ago, another rumor spread like wildfire, suggesting that the Galaxy X would be equipped with a 4K display that can be folded. It appears, however, that we won't likely be seeing a foldable 4K screen soon.

The Korea Herald reports that Samsung is poised to unveil a bevy of new products, which include the OLED display that can be folded or rolled, at the Display Week 2016 organized by the Society for Information Display, an entity that promotes the display industry. This event will be held this week in San Francisco.

"Some of the products to be unveiled at the event ... will serve as an indicator for what kind of technology Samsung will choose for the next Galaxy smartphones and other digital devices down the road," says the report.

The company is reportedly set to showcase a 5.7-inch AMOLED screen that boasts a 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. This AMOLED screen weights 5 grams (0.18 ounces) and features a depth of 0.3 millimeter (0.01 inch), plus a radius curvature of 10. What this means is that this new display technology from the company can be rolled into a circle with a radius of 10 millimeters (0.39 inch).

This screen from Samsung is deemed the “future display technology,” according to the report, as this can also be used for tablet PCs and TVs.

That’s not all the firm will exhibit during the event. The South Korea-based firm is likewise geared to launch its AMOLED display panels that measure 13.3 inches and 14 inches designed for laptops. While these displays will not be flexible, these are said to be extra thin, which help big in reducing the weight and size of laptops in the near future.

Samsung is also cooking up a hologram technology that is believed to project three-dimensional images, a transparent screen plus a reflective display that works akin to a mirror. The company's hologram technology is anticipated to be used in an array of purposes, such as in viewing pop-up books and in playing 3D games.
