It might've been a former bromance tested in Captain America: Civil War, but fans of the superhero really want to see him with a new love interest next time around. Sporting red, white and blue, many believe that Captain America should really be a symbol for democracy and diversity — especially when it comes to his relationships.
That is why Marvel fans have taken to Twitter to petition Marvel to give Captain America a boyfriend.
Fans are voicing their opinion on the social network by creating the now-viral hashtag #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend. The hashtag appeared on Monday and by Tuesday afternoon had grown to become a trending topic.
And if you really think about it, adding a same-sex story line into the next Captain America movie wouldn't be so far-fetched. We know that Steve Rogers (played by Chris Evans in the Marvel movies) appears to prefer women, with previous love interests including Peggy Carter (played by Hayley Atwell in Captain America: The First Avenger) and even her niece Sharon Carter (Played by Emily VanCamp in Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Civil War).
But it was another character in Civil War and in fact all three of the movies that had Rogers' attention: Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan).

Those who have seem the films can see the love and devotion these two men have for each other. Even if they are just friends, Captain America is willing to sacrifice so much time and time again for Bucky. It appears like Rogers' childhood friend just may have been his boyfriend all along.

There is no denying that these two characters love each other, no matter how platonic this love is. This could be the great foundation for a real romance and the perfect opportunity for Marvel to introduce a homosexual storyline.
There is even dedicated fan fiction to "Stucky" if you just do a Google search or browse for it on Tumblr.
While there are some people who strongly disagree with making the Cap gay because of their personal beliefs or wanting Marvel to stay true to the canon, others believe that Marvel should instead just introduce a new LBGT character into its universe.

The viral hashtag asking Marvel to give Captain America a boyfriend comes after many have voiced their desire to #GiveElsaAGirlfriend in Disney's sequel to Frozen. From the popularity of these hashtags, it's pretty clear that moviegoers are wanting more diversity on the big screen.
