The latest episode of Game of Thrones proved to be one of the show's saddest, as not only did fans witness Hodor's painful death but also learned the shocking truth behind the character's mental condition.

However, Game of Thrones showrunners D.B. Weiss and David Benioff aren't sorry about all the emotional baggage fans must now carry. They're not sorry about killing off Hodor, either. After all, they've killed dozens of main characters over the show's six seasons. What they're really sorry about is that people will now be making Hodor jokes every time somebody holds open a door.

The pair appeared in a brief clip last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where they elaborated on why exactly they're so sorry while sitting on a couch covered in dollar bills.

"Not for killing Hodor, we've killed a lot of main characters," Benioff says. "... We're sorry for all the idiots who, from now on, will be shouting 'Hodor!' every time you go through a door."

The clip goes on to depict people yelling, "Hodor!" instead of "Hold the door," in a shallow attempt to be clever.

"We forgot how annoying people can be," Weiss says. "That's our bad."

Yeah, it is your bad. Social media in the last 72 hours has been flooded with Hodor jokes and memes to the point where the entire fad of people breaking down after being told to "hold the door" has already worn out its welcome. It was kind of funny/heartbreaking in the first few hours following the episode while the wound was still fresh, but three days later? Yeah, we get it, Hodor held the door. Hodor's name is "hold the door" mushed together. Hodor died. It was sad. Let's all move on and let Hodor rest in peace. Or in pieces, as is more likely.

Unlike previous years, Game of Thrones will not break for Memorial Day weekend. That means the next episode, "Blood of my Blood," will air on May 29. With half the season now over, expect even more shocking reveals and heartbreaking moments to come in the season's five remaining episodes.
