Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands is the first Ghost Recon game to ever feature an open-world environment.

Now, players can get a peek at some of that open world, which has features that include everything that a player can imagine from the title's Bolivian setting: deserts, mountains and forests. A new trailer features this massive open world, which is also very dangerous.

"They're travelers," the trailer says. "Going miles through mud and muck."

That's an appropriate statement for a game that will feature Ubisoft's largest open-world game setting yet.

"With Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands, we're moving the Ghost Recon franchise in a new direction, with a massive, beautiful and living open world that reacts to players' choices," Ubisoft senior producer Nouredine Abboud said. "Whether going it alone or teaming up with friends in co-op, players in Ghost Recon Wildlands will never encounter the same situation twice, providing endless possibilities and creative freedom to cultivate very personal stories and experiences with the game."

In Ghost Recon Wildlands, the Ghosts are in Bolivia to take on the Santa Blanca cartel while working against a drug lord and corrupt government. Gameplay allows players to choose which group to go after through missions, but players can also interact with NPCs when not on mission to make allies or enemies. However, be warned: each group has its own agenda.

Ubisoft promises nine different types of terrains during gameplay, with dynamic day and night cycles, as well as dynamic weather systems. Each environment also offers opportunities, as well as gameplay drawbacks. Everything from the time of day to the weather affects the likelihood (or not) of combat, as well as how combat plays out.

Ghost Recon Wildlands also offers a four-player co-op multiplayer mode that allows players to work with others to explore the open world, as well as to complete missions. Solo players will get three AI teammates, which they can easily order around.

Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Wildlands releases on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on Dec. 1. It's almost a sure bet that Ubisoft will feature the game heavily at this year's E3 presentation.
