Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X smartphones are now available to order from Amazon.

OnePlus launched the OnePlus 2 in July 2015 as the successor of the highly popular OnePlus One. Unfortunately, smartphone enthusiasts could not just go out and buy the handset.

The company had an invite system in place so customers had to register their interest in the phone and wait for OnePlus to send an invite to purchase the device. However, in December 2015, OnePlus got rid of the invite system for the OnePlus 2.

Similarly, the OnePlus X launched in October 2015 also had an invitation system in place but by the end of January this year, customers were given the freedom to purchase an OnePlus X without an invite.

Now, OnePlus is selling the 64 GB OnePlus 2 for $415 in the U.S. via Amazon. Customers can also purchase the 16 GB OnePlus X for $289.72 from the online retailer.

OnePlus UK has also confirmed via its Twitter account that the handset is officially available for sale on Amazon UK.

Customers who want to purchase the 64 GB version of the OnePlus 2 from Amazon have to £249.00. The Sandstone Black color handset is UK SIM-free, which means customers can use it on any network in the country. OnePlus is also selling the 16 GB OnePlus X for £205.00 from Amazon.

It is worth noting that OnePlus has confirmed that the company will officially launch the OnePlus 3, the successor of OnePlus 2, on June 14, which means that the demand for older phones will decline.

Many smartphone fans would like to grab a new handset as soon as it is launched, but in the past the invite system had left many customers waiting. It seems OnePlus needs more customers to buy its latest phone on Day 1 as the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 3 will be available invite-free.

"With the OnePlus 3, we're officially saying goodbye to invites. It's a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts. After sending out millions of invites over the past two years, it's hard to not think back to the early days and how far we've come. We're proud to have reached a point where we feel confident in making our new device available without invites from day one," says OnePlus.

It remains to be seen if the company also starts selling the OnePlus 3 via retailers such as Amazon.
