Overwatch has been in the wild for a full week now, giving millions of players the chance to put the game's various heroes through the ringer. Fans have wasted no time in letting Blizzard know what they think about the various strengths and weaknesses of certain characters, and it looks like fans can expect some changes to arrive soon.

Fans of the revolver-slinging cowboy McCree might want to expect a decrease in power in the near future. In a post on the Overwatch forums about McCree's current levels of damage output, Blizzard principal designer Geoff Goodman says he has been watching the character carefully since launch.

"McCree's flashbang plays an important role in being a strong option against very fast/agile teams (tracers/genjis/etc.)," Goodman writes. "It is also a nice tool to prevent close range devastating abilities and ultimates such as Reaper's Death Blossom.

"That said, it's probably a bit too good at dealing damage to higher health targets such as Tanks and barriers. I don't have any concrete changes yet, but I'm going to be testing some things internally to see how he plays."

Goodman goes on to say that McCree's "fan the hammer" ability would likely see changes as opposed to the flashbang itself.

Another character soon to receive some changes is D.Va. Players are complaining that the tank character isn't dealing enough damage when compared to other heroes. Goodman says that's by design.

"D.Va's damage is definitely on the lower side, much like Winston's," he writes. "They are this way for a similar reason: They are both very mobile and hard to kill. Every character in the game has strengths and weaknesses, it's part of what makes the teamplay work well.

"That said, I do think [there] is some room for some D.Va improvements, but these are unlikely to take the shape of increasing her damage output significantly."

Goodman continued to elaborate on D.Va's role in the game in a follow-up post.

"There was a time, when she was first implemented, where she had more damage than she does now," he writes. "The way that played out is that she would fly into someone's face, destroy them and fly away. There was little that person could do because [of] her mobility.

"As I said I think she can use some help in other areas, but I don't have anything concrete yet. The goal is that she should be a viable aggressive initiation tank, much like Winston can be right now, rather than some sort of beefy flying assassin. So any changes will likely be helping her in that direction."

Goodman didn't give any exact details on what changes players could expect or when those changes might arrive. Blizzard is currently working to add a competitive ranked mode to Overwatch in the coming months, a feature that was included in the beta but removed for a rework prior to the game's official release.
