The moment console gamers have long waited for is finally here: mods are no longer PC exclusives. With the arrival of mods for Fallout 4 on Xbox One, players can now add to and improve upon Bethesda's open-world RPG, free of charge.

It's a huge moment for console gaming. The only problem is that getting starting can be a little complicated. Not to worry, though, we're here to help. With this simple guide, you'll be installing mods to your heart's content, adding new weapons, graphical improvements and even new quests to Bethesda's already massive game.

Make A Bethesda Account

As is usually the case nowadays, in order to move forward, you'll need to make an official Bethesda.net account. Thankfully, it's not a terribly time-consuming process. You'll need a unique username, password and email to do so. You'll also have to provide an answer to a simple security question. Once you've done that and then verified your account via email, you'll be all set. You can make a Bethesda account here.

Browse More Mods Than You Can Dream Of

This is the fun part. After creating your account, head back to Bethesda.net and click the "Mods" tab at the top of the page. That will bring you to a selection of every Fallout 4 mod available. There's a lot, but don't freak out. The first step is to sort the mods by console, in this case, Xbox One. You can do this by clicking the "Platform" icon to the right-hand side of the screen and selecting Xbox One. That will narrow down the 2,000-something mods to a more manageable 945 (and counting). The website also gives you plenty of filters to narrow your search. There's a filter for new weapons, UI changes, items, graphics and much more. There are even specific filters for mods pertaining to each of the game's three DLC packs.

Load Em' Up

Once you've found a few mods to your liking, you'll want to add them to your mod library. You can do this by simply clicking the "add to library" button on a given mod's page. Head to the main mod page, and you'll see a "My Mods" icon to the right of your screen near the various mod filters. Clicking this will take you to all the various mods you've chosen.

Now, all that's left to do is boot up Fallout 4 and install the mods of your choice. Your library of chosen mods should appear in the mods section of the game's main menu, and there's even an option to browse and select new mods entirely from the game itself as well. From your library, you can then choose which mods to enable and disable and in what order. Keep in mind that you can only have 2 GB worth of mods installed at a time, so choose carefully. The bright side is that most mods don't take up a ton of space, so you should have plenty of room to experiment.

Once your mods are enabled, all you have to do is go back to the main menu and load up your game. Note that you won't be able to earn any achievements while using mods (after all, many of the mods are basically cheat codes), but you sure will be able to have a lot of fun.
