GameStop CEO Paul Raines might have just confirmed that the new Xbox One and PS4 will be revealed at E3 in June.

During an appearance at Fox Business, the executive praised Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and discussed the hit title's performance in the market with the host Liz Claman saying that "sales are good" and that Naughty Dog did a "spectacular job again."

At this point, it should be noted that the game set an impressive record as 2.7 million copies sold like hotcakes in the first week it got released. Because of that, it's now the top-selling first-party title of PS4.

While it's interesting to know that Nathan Drake has yet again captured the hearts of many gamers, what Raines said next may have overshadowed the good news.

"We'd love to see some virtual reality and some new consoles come in. We're gonna hear about that at E3," he said.

Of course, he didn't say exactly what those "new consoles" are, but it's likely they're the refreshed versions of the Xbox One and PS4. In other words, Sony could unveil the PS4.5 or Neo, whereas Microsoft could take the wraps off the Xbox One Slim or the VR-ready Xbox One Scorpio.

Interestingly enough, this update is more or less in line with the indications found in the GameStop earnings call a week ago, revealing that new hardware are going to appear at E3.

At any rate, the big event just got a whole deal more exciting than it already is.

It's also worth mentioning that this is sort of reminiscent of when Raines also slipped out the launch date of the PSVR back in February.
