Amazon is rolling out a refreshed Fire HD 10 with a metal body and aluminum build, ditching the not-so-loved plastic back it previously sported.

To get things started it looks like the retailer is attempting to win back the customers who didn't — to put it nicely — appreciate the original design of the tablet.

With that said, the price of the Amazon slab will remain the same as the first variant. That means the 16 GB model will cost $230 and the 32 GB model will hold customers back by $260. To keep the good news going, there's also a new 64 GB variant, and it comes with a $290 price tag. They're all available in black, silver aluminum and white.

Needless to say, they are preloaded with the "Special Offers" deal of the retailer, and to opt out of it, customers will have to fork over $15 more. Well, that shouldn't come as much of a surprise knowing how the company does things.

Aside from the new polished rear, the new Fire HD 10 doesn't really have anything new to bring to the table. A word to the wise, it still packs in the same 1.5 GHz quad-core chip plus 1 GB worth of RAM and features the all-familiar 10.1-inch display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution.

Of course, there's also the Dolby Atmos-powered stereo speakers in the audio department. On top of that, it's fitted with a 5-megapixel MP rear-facing camera and a 720p-capable front snapper.

Sure, an overhauled rear is nothing much to go by, but with the prices staying the same, it's a change that's more than welcome. Also, because of the retained specifications, those who nabbed the plastic-backed models shouldn't feel too bad that they missed out on the new metal-clad Amazon tablet.
