New details have emerged regarding Samsung's next-generation Galaxy Note 6. The phablet will reportedly launch as the Note 7, feature an advanced iris scanner, run Marshmallow and will launch in August.

Samsung has gained a huge following for its S Pen-equipped Galaxy Note smartphone series, and fans of the device only have a few weeks to go before Samsung makes things official.

Over the last few months, we've received reports on what we can expect Samsung to include in the Galaxy Note 6, which will reportedly officially launch as the Galaxy Note 7. Sources claim that the rebranding is an effort to make the numbering of the Galaxy Note series match its current Galaxy S smartphones, Galaxy S7, S7 Edge and S7 Active. The company believes consumers may think the Galaxy Note 6 is a generation behind the Galaxy S7, although it's unclear if Samsung is actually going to skip the Note 6 name.

Samsung is now expected to unveil the Galaxy Note 6/7 at an event in early August, according to the always-reliable Evan Blass.

Rumors of the Galaxy Note 6/7 launching with Google's next version of Android, N 7.0, appears to have been debunked via a user agent profile, which lists the device running Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow.

We recently reported that a video of the Samsung Galaxy Note 6/7 was created based off of leaked schematics and appeared to confirm reports that the phablet would sport an advanced iris scanner.

Now, what is reportedly a leaked screen shot of beta firmware from Samsung's Galaxy Beta Program shows an authentication request using fingerprint, PIN and iris scanner. It's unclear on how Samsung plans to use the advanced iris scanner in addition to authenticating purchases and unlocking the handset, or if it will open it up to developers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 6/Note 7 is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Quad HD Super AMOLED display, be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 processor and 6 GB of RAM. It will reportedly boast a 12 megapixel rear camera, 64 GB and 128 GB storage options, microSD expansion slot and waterproof case design.

Samsung is also expected to launch a dual-edge display Galaxy Note 7 Edge with a dual rear camera setup. This device was recently spotted on import/export site Zauba.

As always, it's best to take reports of highly-anticipated devices with a grain of salt, but luckily, the August launch of the Galaxy Note 6/7 isn't far away. We'll keep you posted on any new details.
