Dragon Ball Super's next story arc will see everybody's favorite time traveler, Future Trunks, once again return to the past in order to warn the Z fighters of a dangerous future.

Not many details about the upcoming arc have been discussed other than that it will feature a brand new villain. That's finally changing now, as new details about the storyline (and a sweet new poster) have been officially revealed.

Via Anime News Network, the official title for the first episode in the new storyline is "SOS From the Future! A New Black Enemy Reveals Himself!" The episode will begin by exploring a future free from the domination of the deadly Androids seen in Dragon Ball Z. Suddenly, Future Trunks finds himself face to face against a new enemy named "Black," only for Trunks to find himself severely outmatched. Bulma decides to build yet another time machine in order to seek out Goku and Vegeta from the past for help.

Series creator Akira Toriyama previously teased that the show's new villain would be named "Goku Black." That certainly matches up with this new poster for the upcoming story arc, which appears to show a Goku with a villainous-looking smirk. Does Goku somehow turn evil? What's up with his earring? It almost looks like one of the Potara earrings that allowed Goku and Vegeta to fuse into Vegito in their battle against Majin Buu. Hmmmmm. You can check out the poster for yourself below.

Exactly what it all means is anybody's guess at this point, but it's great to see Dragon Ball Super building upon many of the elements that made Dragon Ball Z so popular in the first place. We've already seen how the series brought back Goku's use of Kaio-ken in a new surprising way, and now, time travel will once again play an important part in the show.

A new Dragon Ball Z video game is also on the way in the form of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. It's slated for release later this year, though it remains to be seen if characters or storylines from Dragon Ball Super will make their way into the new game.
