The HD remaster ofFinal Fantasy XII will be out for Sony PlayStation 4 (PS4) in 2017.

The fantasy role-playing video game developed and published by Square Enix was originally released in 2006 for Sony PlayStation 2. On June 6, Square Enix released a teaser video announcing the existence of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age.

Gamers should note that The Zodiac Age is a remaster and not a remake, which means the video game developer has upgraded the game's graphics so that it looks cleaner and brighter.

The remaster of Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age is not the first one to be released by Square Enix. The game developer has already introduced Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 HD for PS Vita, PS3 and PS4. Although The Zodiac Age has been announced to be just for PS4, many gamers will hope that the HD remaster also makes its way to other consoles in the near term.

The latest game trailer shows an impressive mix of gameplay and cinematics. The short teaser gives a glimpse of the game's main characters and some enemies, dungeons and the combat system. The remastered Final Fantasy XII will also feature a shorter loading time, auto save and a better turbo mode.

Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age will also feature the game's original soundtrack. Previous remasters in the Final Fantasy franchise like Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD also included a fresh orchestral soundtrack, which means that gamers may expect the upcoming game to get a similar treatment by the game developer.

Square Enix will initially release Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age in Japan. However, the remastered game may be released in other regions as well. Final Fantasy XII is one of the most enjoyable Japanese RPGs in the franchise, and only time will tell if the HD remaster will also gain as much popularity as the original game.

The 2016 E3 kicks off on June 14 and it is very likely that gamers will get to know more about the HD remaster at the event.
