Speculations of Apple's next mobile operating system (OS), iOS 10, have already started and some features such as a dark mode and split screen may make their way to the upcoming OS for iPhones. Some concepts of these features give a glimpse of what to expect in iOS 10 for iPhones.

The existing color pattern of the iOS user interface (UI) is bright and many iPhone fans may want a dark mode, which gives a different look to the UI.

Apple Mac OS X already has a dark mode and iPad owners have access to split screen. However, iHelp BR concepts imagine what these features look like on iPhones.

iHelp BR has depicted the dark mode across various system applications on an iPhone such as in Messages, Contacts, Mail, News and more. The Portuguese website also speculates that iPhone owners will be able to set the dark mode to run automatically during a specific time of the day such as after sunset.

The dark mode for iPhone may also extend to system menus, built-in Apple apps as well as third-party apps that potentially use dark mode API.

The split screen mode will help iPhone owners in multitasking. The concept image shows the split screen feature in landscape mode. The iPhone SE has a 4-inch screen and the iPhone 6s sports a 4.7-inch display. Split screen may not be ideal for handsets of these sizes but it could be useful to iPhone 6s Plus as it touts a big 5.5-inch screen.

Apple has not confirmed anything about the dark mode and split screen in iOS 10 for iPhones. However, Apple's 2016 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) starts on June 13 where the company will talk more about its upcoming software features including iOS 10.

Apple has also updated the WWDC app in a dark theme, which hints that Apple may introduce a dark mode in iOS 10 for iPhones. Following the event, Apple is also expected to roll out the beta versions of iOS 10 to developers.

June 13 is not that far away so iFans will have to wait slightly longer to find out if Apple introduces a dark mode and split screen in the upcoming iOS 10.
