If you own either an Asus ZenFone 2 Laser or ZenFone Max, here is good news that will certainly put a smile on your face: Android Marshmallow has begun hitting these Asus phones.

A few months ago, Asus promised that a few of its handsets will be treated with the much-awaited Marshmallow update. The company said that the software update would land on its phones before the second quarter of this year ends — yes, that's June. Now, it is great to see that, at long last, some of its ZenFone smartphones are already getting the update.

What this means is that Asus is living up to its promise of pushing out Marshmallow to its devices within its set deadline.

Specifically, the phones that are receiving the updates include the 5-inch ZenFone 2 Laser, 5.5-inch ZenFone 2 Laser along with the ZenFone Max.

It is expected that the following Asus devices should also get the upgrades in the near future: Asus PadFone S, Asus ZenFone Zoom, Asus ZenFone Selfie, Asus ZenFone 2 Laser (specifically those with model numbers ZE601KL, ZE551KL and ZE600KL), Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe, Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe Special Edition and Asus ZenFone 2.

As always, owners of these devices should expect that the rolling out of the software update is being done in waves — as such, there is a possibility that it will arrive on their device today or in the coming days.

However, users who wish to check out if there is already any update for their Asus ZenFone device may perform this manual process:

1. Go to Settings > About.

2. Check out System updates.

Features To Expect

This update brings with it all the features included in the Android Marshmallow, such as App Standby and Doze Mode — these should help owners of these devices save on battery life. They will also benefit from the Now On Tap feature. Another key functionality that is packed into this version of Google's mobile operating system is the ability to grant permissions to apps as soon as users open them for the first time.

On top of these features, the update also purportedly wipes out a few of the pre-installed apps on these smartphones, such as Asus Calendar, Asus Messenger and Asus Email. Of course, there are more apps that are pre-loaded into these phones that may also be removed after the update.

In any case, the latest software update for the ZenFone Max and ZenFone 2 Laser is a boon to many users of these smartphones. Needless to say, it should be expected that this one can make the user experience way smoother down the line.
