CoroCoro has finally done it.

After promising for two straight months that it would deliver official news related to Pokémon Sun and Moon, only to disappoint in the following issue, the Japanese manga magazine has finally followed through on its word and revealed new information about Pokémon's seventh generation.

The new information comes via leaked scans from CoroCoro's June issue posted on Serebii, which revealed two brand-new Pokemon: Nekkola and Iwanko.

Nekkola, whose name is likely derived from "nemuru" (to fall asleep) or "neru" (to sleep) and koala, is a pure Normal-type Pokémon that bears resemblance to a koala. Beyond its name, the only thing that is known about Nekkola is that it possesses the Definite Sleep ability, which grants it immunity from every status effect other than Sleep.

The ability for certain Pokémon to be immune to various status effects is by no means new. However, a Pokémon with the capacity to be immune to all of them except for one is unprecedented. Perhaps this ability will make Nekkola particularly susceptible to sleep?

Meanwhile, Iwanko, whose name is likely derived from "iwa" (rock) and "wanko" (puppy), is a Rock-type Pokémon that resembles a dog. Just like with Nekkola, the only thing other than its name that is known about it are the two abilities that it can get: Vital Spirit and Keen Eye.

For what it's worth, fans had some idea of Iwanko's existence prior to this leak. When the first official trailer for the game arrived on May 10, Iwanko could be briefly seen at the side of the screen for a second from the rear before disappearing.

While this reveal is definitely welcome, the fact that CoroCoro actually came through with an actual reveal is far more signficant - especially after making the assertion that it would be the "Pokémon main source" for news, despite not actually providing worthwhile information about Sun and Moon beforehand.

As stated before, CoroCoro had promised two times in the past to reveal new information about Sun and Moon, only to come up short. The first time came in March when it announced that it would have a special feature on the new games in its April issue.

The April issue arrived, but instead of new information, CoroCoro only confirmed Magearna's typing to be Steel and Fairy, something that was already apparent from the beginning. The magazine also teased the box art and promised that the next issue would have more information on Sun and Moon.

Unfortunately, it was more of the same when the May issue arrived: a new image and clips for the upcoming Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna movie, followed by the promise of an "exclusive scoop" in the June issue.

Considering its track record thus far, it was easy to ignore that promise. Fortunately, as the leaks show, CoroCoro did indeed follow through this time around and had more information for fans.

Hopefully, CoroCoro continues this trend and reveals new information about Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, even if it's just one or two brand-new Pokémon. The new games might be coming out in November, but CoroCoro is a monthly magazine, meaning that it has only four to five more issues to provide fans with info before the games launch worldwide.
