After hitting one million sales within 24 hours of its launch, Friday, Microsoft was flooded by complaints from owners of Xbox One. Social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Reddit are buzzing with negative sentiments of frustration and dissatisfaction with the newest video game console from consumers. The problems range from slow installation of games, software problems, freezing screens, and disc drives that might make the said entertainment center in the living room like an old noisy, malfunctioning lawn mower that everybody would love to hate.

The warm reception day one in the market turned to negative reviews on Amazon where a lot of buyers have given the game console a rating of one star out of the possible five.

Followers of the popular game-centric site Kotaku flooded its staff with complaints about the Xbox One. Kotaku contacted Microsoft about the issue and seemed to get a generic reply from the Xbox One maker that it will "take care" of affected customers.

"The issue is affecting a very small number of Xbox One customers. We're working directly with those affected to get a replacement console to them as soon as possible through our advance exchange program. Rest assured, we are taking care of our customers," Microsoft said in a statement.

"Customers have the option for us to send a replacement console right away without waiting until they have returned their old one. This means a customer only has to wait a matter of days, rather than weeks to get back up and running," Microsoft said.

The optical disc drive problems seem to be the biggest issue with the Xbox One. Users complained of buzzing or grinding sound when a disc is inserted. There were also complaints about the long download time for the software patch to unlock the unit while others were frustrated with the long wait for games to complete installation.

It is not clear how many users are affected by the different issues of Xbox One but it appears that the number is not likely to exceed those who complained of defective PlayStation 4 units which, according to Sony, account for less than a percent of the first million units picked up by the gamers.
