The Vodafone Smart platinum 7, previously Alcatel's OneTouch Idol 4s, is launching soon in the UK this coming June 20.

This new Vodafone flagship handset features a 5.5-inch 2K QHD AMOLED screen that supports a full resolution of 1,440 x 2,560 pixels. Its AMOLED-powered display guarantees that the Smart platinum 7 displays a full range of crisp and vivid colors with full blacks and greater contrast.

There's an 8-megapixel camera on the front, while a 16-megapixel camera sits on the back. Both cameras come equipped with its own flash, a small one on the front and an LED flash on the back. Beneath the main camera is a fingerprint sensor to easily unlock the device as well as make wireless payment transfers more secure.

These individual features are kept within a premium-finished glass and aluminum slim body that measures 6.9 millimeters, or 0.27 inch, and weighs about 155 grams, or 5.47 ounces. Gorilla Glass protects both the back and front of the smartphone with metal borders running across the edges. These metal linings frame the dual stereo speakers on the front.

The Vodafone Smart platinum 7 houses an 8-core Snapdragon 652 chip processor that provides 3 GB of RAM, which according to developers is "more than enough to switch between graphically demanding games, HD video streams and heavy web pages without hiccups."

Its battery can hold 3,000 mAh of energy and is equipped with the Quick Charge 3.0 technology. This means that the phone can be recharged to 50 percent within 30 minutes.

As for storage capacity, the Smart platinum 7 offers an internal memory of 32 GB, of which 22 GB should still be available to users despite customized apps from the company. Android 6.0 Marshmallow runs the whole system, showcasing the latest Google features like Doze and App Standby.

To top it all off, the Vodafone Smart platinum 7 is also manufactured to handle the latest in virtual reality (VR) technology.

"With support for Google Cardboard's virtual reality experiences, slotting the platinum 7 into the Smart VR headset will unlock a whole new universe of interactive videos, games and vistas to explore," Vodafone says.

Vodafone is also throwing in a sweet deal for early purchasers of the product: early preorders will be bundled with the Vodafone Smart VR headset. There is, however, nothing "new" to this according to other reports as the company allegedly plans to ship the VR headset with future sales.

Further announcements may be accessed through the Official Vodafone Blog, as well as specific details through the Vodafone Smart platinum 7 product page.
