Did you purchase a ticket from Ticketmaster between 1999 and 2013? If so, you may want to check your inbox.

In May, the sales and distribution company settled a $400 million lawsuit that was first filed in 2003. The lawsuit alleges that Ticketmaster charged customers with excessive and deceptive fees for things like shipping costs and order processing.

Ticketmaster denies the claims. However, the 13-year-old lawsuit has resulted in the company handing out $45-million-worth of free tickets and discounts to as many as 50 million customers who overpaid between Oct. 21, 1999 and Feb. 27, 2013.

How To Claim Discounts And Free Tickets

The company has already sent out emails to customers, explaining how they can get up to 17 discount codes, which they can use if they purchase tickets in the future.

Each code is worth a $2.25 credit, and up to two could be used per transaction. For customers whose tickets were brought by UPS, there is an extra $5 discount code that can be used for a succeeding UPS charge through Ticketmaster.

Additionally, customers will receive at least one free ticket code in their accounts.

The ticket code can be exchanged for two general admission tickets to certain events at venues operated and owned by its parent company, Live Nation Entertainment.

Live Nation will choose which events the ticket code can be exchanged for. The general admission tickets will be given on a first-come-first-serve basis.

1. To access the free ticket and discount code, log on to your account on Ticketmaster and click the "Your Account" link.

2. Once opened, scroll down and look at the bottom of the left hand side.

3. You will see a link that will take you to "Active Vouchers." Click the link and you will open a list of discount codes and a link for the free tickets.

Live Nation has yet to post the list of events covered by the vouchers, but Ticketmaster said it will update the list as events are posted.

If you click on the link on the postings for free tickets, the lawsuit settlement site will open. There you can sign up for email notifications when the list of events are posted.

Customers must receive one free voucher for every purchase made during the time period covered by the lawsuit.

Although the free vouchers won't cover every concert, Ticketmaster said it will be eligible for at least 60 percent of the productions.

The discount codes can be used until June 18, 2020.
