Apple just experienced Bendgate with reports of its iPhone 6 Plus facing bending issues. Samsung is now facing Gapgate as customers report Galaxy Note 4 has a gap defect around its display.

A couple days after Apple released its latest iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, the company issued a press release to announce that first weekend sales of the new smartphones topped 10 million units sold, easily shattering previous records. The celebration was short lived as reports and You Tube videos claimed its 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus had a manufacturing defect that caused the aluminum-clad smartphone to bend during normal activity for some users.

Apple was soon on the defensive and invited journalists to tour its iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus testing facilities to demonstrate how it torture-tests the devices to ensure they hold up over time. The company claimed the issue was overblown and that only 9 customers had contacted the company about the issue. Consumer Reports performed its own testing and backed up Apple's claims, but not before its smartphone rivals took the opportunity to bash the company on social media.

Samsung was one of the first to attack Apple over what became known as "Bendgate" and now the company has found itself embroiled in "Gapgate" with its new Galaxy Note 4 phablet.

Samsung reportedly pushed the release of its new Galaxy Note 4 phablet up in South Korea and China by a few weeks in response to strong sales of Apple's iPhone 6 Plus. The company began selling the Galaxy Note 4 on Sept. 26 and South Korean users are reporting that the device has a serious manufacturing issue.

IT Today is reporting that some Galaxy Note 4 users have noticed a space between the phablet's frame and its display panel. The gaps are large enough to fit pieces of paper and a business card inside, as evidenced by the picture above. Its sources claim that Samsung is aware of the issue, although the company hasn't publicly acknowledged it yet.

It's not known how widespread the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 Gapgate issue is, but hopefully the company comes up with a solution before the phablet hits the U.S. on Oct. 17.
