Let's be honest: half the reason why Captain America: Civil War was so great was simply because of Spider-Man.

Alright, that might be a slight hyperbole, but there's no denying that the debut of a new Peter Parker was one of the film's many highlights. After a disappointing string of films, the fact that Spider-Man wasn't some obnoxious whiner or a boring cardboard cutout was more than enough for fans to get excited — and the fact that Tom Holland was so fun to watch only made the character's brief time on screen that much better.

Really, the only hiccup was that Spider-Man's appearance during the film's airport fight was entirely CG. Yes, it still looked great, and the CG-only suit was necessary due to time constraints, but the fact that fans didn't get to see an actual, physical Spider-Man suit was something of a disappointment.

Thankfully, it looks like Marvel and Sony won't have to worry about the CG-only suit anymore: to celebrate the fact that Spider-Man: Homecoming is set to debut in exactly one year, Tom Holland shared a selfie from the set of the film ... and he's in full costume.

All things considered, this may be the most detailed shot of the new suit that fans have seen so far. Yes, Holland has been the subject of a few impromptu set photos since filming began, but those were all blurry or taken from a long distance — here, fans can get up close and personal with the new suit.

For the most part, it looks as if the suit hasn't changed all that much from Civil War. It makes sense, given how well-received the suit was, and any minor changes that need to be made will probably be added in via CG once filming has wrapped. Either way, the suit looks great — and movies always look better when there's something actually standing in front of the camera.

All that's left to do now is wait for the movie to hit theaters. Filming began just a few weeks ago, and there's likely still some time left — and that's not including any possible reshoots, either. Once filming has wrapped, the movie will enter post-production, which is where all of the effects work will be added in. Sadly, post-production is the most time-consuming process of the film — it may seem like the production team has plenty of time, but even a full year to work with is a relatively tight schedule.

With any luck, the first full Spidey movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a good one — Spider-Man: Homecoming is due out on July 8, 2017.
