Google has already pushed out its Android Distribution report for the month of July. It shows off the sluggish but steady growth of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow adoption.

Last month, we have seen that Marshmallow finally passed 10 percent of the Android pie. Now, Marshmallow already got 13.3 percent market share, up from 10.1 percent in June.

The rise of Marshmallow adoption this month is seen as a result of many phone models finally receiving OTA updates last month. For instance, the Galaxy Tab E 8.0 on Verizon was updated while AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 Active and Galaxy S6 edge+ also received the much needed update. The operating system also arrived on the Honor 5X plus Alcatel's IDOL 3 a few weeks ago.

All Are Down Except For Marshmallow And Froyo

It is worth mentioning that all other Android versions' distribution dropped except for Marshmallow and, yes, Froyo.

Lollipop and KitKat, in the meantime, are still deemed the most widely used versions of the OS, with Lollipop at 35.1 percent and KitKat at 30.1 percent. Jelly Bean now sits at 17.8 percent, Ice Cream Sandwich at 1.7 percent and Gingerbread at 1.9 percent. Meanwhile, Froyo remained at a solid 0.1 percent.

Google combined these numbers from Android devices that accessed the Google Play Store in a seven-day period that ended on July 11.

"This data reflects devices running the latest Google Play Store app, which is compatible with Android 2.2 and higher," says Google. "Each snapshot of data represents all the devices that visited the Google Play Store in the prior 7 days."

Nougat Developer Preview

Nougat is well on its way to the monthly distribution numbers, with the fifth and last Nougat Developer Preview targeted for this month.

A report from 9to5Google hopes that Android 7.0 Nougat "will fare significantly better this time next year," as compared with Marshmallow's record.

7.5 Percent For Marshmallow Last May

In May, Marshmallow already got 7.5 percent market share, up from 4.6 percent. Also during the time, all the other versions' numbers were also down.

For example, Lollipop's share slightly decreased, from 35.8 percent to 35.6 percent. KitKat's distribution was down from 33.4 percent to 32.5 percent. Jelly Bean, in the meantime, suffered the biggest dip — from 22.3 percent down to 20.1 percent. Of course, Froyo stubbornly remained at 0.1 percent.

In any case, what the report means is that the Android Marshmallow is surely gaining traction in terms of usership across the globe, though in a slow manner. Moreover, albeit Marshmallow's figure jumped up this month, it is still not enough for it to sit head-to-head with Lollipop and KitKat in terms of distribution.
