We just reported that a reliable source has revealed the date of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro release. The same tipster has just confirmed the date of Apple's event and when the new iPhones will be made available for preorder.

There has been much debate on what Apple will call its upcoming iPhones. It's been widely reported that the company has shifted from its 2-year cycle on major iPhone refreshes, something it began with the release of the iPhone 3GS in 2009, to a new 3-year cycle.

By all accounts the upcoming iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus/Pro appear to be evolutions of the iPhone 6 series in terms of design and there is debate on whether Apple will actually give the smartphones the iPhone 7 name or confirm the new 3-year cycle and use a naming convention it has already debuted earlier this year.

The iPhone SE, which is based on the iPhone 5s design and iPhone 6s specs, has proven to be a major hit for Apple. There's a large segment of iPhone fans who still prefer the 4-inch display and one-handed operability the larger 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhones can't offer.

Whether Apple's new iPhones will be called iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, or iPhone 6SE and iPhone 6SE Plus, we now know when the company will open up preorders for the devices, according to a reliable source.

Evan Blass recently revealed that the iPhone 2016 release would take place on Friday, Sept. 16. He has taken to Twitter and posted the following message: "Confirmed: Pre-orders start on the 9th. You can extrapolate the launch event date from there."

If preorders begin on Friday, Sept. 9, Apple's iPhone 7 or iPhone 6SE event will most likely take place on Wedesday Sept. 7, since Labor Day falls on Sept. 5. For instance, last year Apple held its iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus event on Sept. 9 and opened up preorders for the smartphones on Friday, Sept. 12.

The iPhone 7/6SE and iPhone 7 Plus/6SE Plus will share designs very similar to that of the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus. The handsets are expected to include a new 3D Touch Home button, snappier and more energy efficient A10 processors, upgraded rear cameras, larger batteries, and waterproof case, among its top new features.

While it's always best to take iPhone 7/6SE reports with a grain of salt, the source from where the information is coming from has a solid track record. We'll be sure to update you on any additional details.
