Apple might prepare to reveal a "killer new product" baked in its health laboratories, a decade after it launched the first iPhone.

The company has long since touted the release of a new product that will carry the iPhone's revolutionary legacy into the future, but the details are scarce.

The last attempt from the company to breathe fresh air into its products was the Apple Watch, which scored rave reviews from consumers and tech experts alike. Speculations roam free whether a VR or an Apple Car is next in line to surprise and delight the company's fans.

However, a new report from Asia hints at the fact that Apple could be working on something entirely different than an autonomous vehicle or a VR-related gizmo.

According to a report from Economic Daily News, a device inspired by the Apple Watch might land next year and it will be the first in a new line of health-focused products. The purported gadget should run with the iPhone anniversary edition, which will roll out in 2017 — 10 years after the first smartphone from Apple rolled out.

The report underlines that the device has been on the design and production bench for two years now, and it will bring a much more health-focused approach to wearables. It is probable that the gizmo will "accurately collect users' personal daily life, including heart rate, pulse, blood sugar changes and other information," the Economic Daily News affirms.

Those familiar with Apple's developments should know that Jay Blahnik's health team was behind the project. Insiders familiar with the matter note that the device has potential to be a game changer for the technology industry.

Based on the few leaked details, the wearable will feature 3D touch compatibility, which will open up new possibilities for the device. What is more, Macotakara hints that Apple has a "revolutionary idea" in place for providing power to the new gadget.

Sadly, no other hard data or leaked images exist at the time of the reporting.

Additional information suggests that the product will hit the shelves in 2017. Sources who insisted on remaining anonymous pointed out that Apple is commissioning partners such as Foxconn, TPK, TSMC and Zhen Ding Technology to manufacture components that will find their place in the new product.

It is little surprise that Apple is concentrating on the development of a health-focused wearable. Since before the release of the Apple Watch, the company was rumored to work on a device that harnesses advanced capabilities of health data monitoring and collection.

Although that did not come to pass, Apple consistently pushed its health products on the iPhone, where a number of initiatives took shape, the most significant being ResearchKit, HealthKit and CareKit.

Despite agreeing that a device that is built with health in mind seems like a natural direction for Apple, we are very curious why the tantalizing product has to diverge from the Apple Watch line.

Later this year, Apple should release its second iteration of the Apple Watch, in tandem with the much anticipated iPhone 7.

We will keep you posted on Apple's developments, so stay tuned!
