It's official, the next guest star set to appear on James Corden's wildly popular "Carpool Karaoke" segment of his late night talk show will be none other than pop star Britney Spears. The singer is set to release her latest album shortly and her team has booked her on Corden's show as part of its promotional strategy to publicize the collection.

Late last week, rumors began to circulate that Britney Spears could be the next guest on the "Carpool Karaoke" segment of James Corden's CBS late night chatfest, "The Late Late Show With James Corden".

Now, the booking and air date have been officially announced. Spears will make her debut on the show on Aug. 25, just one day before her new album "Glory" hits the shelves.

Spears is known to be heavily micromanaged by her team, run by manager Larry Rudolph along with Spears' father Jamie Spears, who was awarded a conservatorship over his daughter several years ago during her famous "meltdown" phase, when she famously shaved her head and attacked a car with an umbrella. Almost all of her interviews now consist of pre-approved, lightweight questions, so it will be interesting to see Britney in what hopefully will be a more candid, less guarded moment.

Authentic behavior has been a large element of the overall appeal of Corden's "Carpool Karaoke" segments, in which some of the world's biggest pop stars, including Adele, Justin Bieber, Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez and Elton John have let down their guards on rides through the streets of Los Angeles with Corden at the wheel, talking and singing along to some of their greatest hits, along with some other favorite pop songs. The most recent guest on the show was none other than first lady Michele Obama, which was a departure for the segment in that it usually features musical performers.

"Carpool Karaoke", which originated on Corden's late night talk show "The Late Late Show With James Corden," has been a huge viral video success, where YouTube plays of the various episodes have well surpassed over 1 billion. Apple Music recently bought a series version of the segment for its digital TV platform, which will be helmed not by Corden but instead by a yet to be determined host.

Meanwhile, Britney has also teamed with Apple, which has bagged the exclusive stream of "Glory" upon release. The singer is just about to release her third single, "Clumsy" from the album, after the first two, "Make Me" and "Private Show" were met with muted response from music fans.

While none of the songs that Corden and Spears will sing on the ride have been announced, Spears will likely feature some of the huge hits from her extensive catalog, which includes such chart toppers as "Baby One More Time", "Oops... I Did It Again", "Gimme More", "Toxic", "I'm A Slave For You" and "Stronger". It is also likely that her team will insist on including at least one or two tracks from the new album, which the appearance is intended to promote. Corden also usually sings one hit pop song with his guest which is not actually by the artist, and it will be interesting to see what Britney (or her team) has chosen.
