Yet another glitch turns up on Pokémon GO, and this time around, it lets trainers hold on to a gym forever or until Niantic rolls out a fix.

The trick is simple: Instead of a Pokémon, abusers will leave an egg in the location, and because players can't engage one in a battle, they get to keep the coveted spot indefinitely.

According to Reddit users, plenty of unfair trainers have used the exploit to capture a lot of gyms around New York. One who goes by the name of shatterkneesinc also said that swiping to challenge other Pokémon doesn't work and that a bug occurs after tapping on an affected area that calls for a restart.

"The affected gyms also cannot be swiped to see the other pokemon. There is one gym that has not been affected (currently mystic) and when I tap on that after I tap on the egg gyms I get this Imgur," he says.

Needless to say, this is a game-breaking glitch that needs a fix as soon as possible, as those who stay in control of gym stand to earn a ton of PokéCoin and Stardust as part of the daily Defender Bonus.

Niantic has yet to address this particular issue, but it is already cracking down on cheaters in the game. In other words, it's recommended not to take advantage of this exploit to be safe, lest a permanent ban comes in the way.

To start things off, the developer is keeping an eye out for trainers who spoof GPS to catch every Pokémon out there without leaving their home and those who use bots to hatch eggs and whatnot. Even Twitch is getting on the action too, banning cheaters from streaming on its platform.

Long story short, more and more glitches that are up for abuse keep surfacing on Pokémon GO, but Niantic is out to catch 'em all and issue the appropriate penalties to those who exploit the game.
